CRITICAL ASSET PROTECTION

Fuel Water Separators

Fuel-water separators remove free and emulsified water while supporting particulate control in diesel fuel systems.

WHY THIS FAMILY EXISTS

Protect the machine before contamination becomes damage.

HYDROCORE™ combines staged separation, droplet coalescence, water collection, and a final hydrophobic barrier for standard non-turbine spin-on and cartridge fuel/water separator applications.

Separation and coalescing behavior are matched to the approved standard separator configuration without extending HYDROCORE scope to FH or FG turbine systems.

PROTECTED ASSET

What sits behind the filter matters more than the filter itself.

Controlled water separation helps reduce water carryover into downstream fuel-system components.

CONTAMINATION RISK

What happens when the protection boundary is lost.

Diesel Water Contamination

Water promotes corrosion, reduces lubricity, supports microbial growth, and creates erosion or stiction risk inside high-pressure injection components.

Fuel quality degrades, injectors lose metering precision, combustion quality declines, and the probability of pump and injector failure increases.

PROTECTION STRATEGY

Selection starts with the operating system, not a part number.

Control strategy

Match the separator element, flow requirement, water-management configuration and service condition to the approved non-turbine application.

System context

SYNTAPORE™ controls particulate contamination. HYDROCORE™ governs standard non-turbine spin-on and cartridge fuel/water separator applications, while TURBOCORE™ governs applicable FH/FG turbine-style fuel/water separation housings and dedicated 2010/2020/2040-series replacement configurations.

Family role

Fuel-water separators remove free and emulsified water while supporting particulate control in diesel fuel systems.

BEFORE SELECTING A FILTER

Questions the application should answer first.

The correct element is defined by the protected asset, contamination exposure and operating duty. These are the questions that should be resolved before cross-reference or part selection.

01

Is contamination free water, emulsified water, particulate, or a combination?

02

What fuel flow must the separator support?

03

How is collected water inspected and drained?

04

Is installation orientation and service access correct?

SERVICE DISCIPLINE

A new element cannot correct a contaminated maintenance practice.

01

Drain collected water according to operating conditions.

02

Inspect seals, bowl condition and installation orientation.

03

Investigate the upstream fuel source when water loading becomes recurrent.
