Dust and pollen held on the upstream face of the pleated panelOutside-air grille, HVAC housing (in section), MICROKAPPA panel, blower, cabinConceptual illustration of a cabin ventilation path with a MICROKAPPA™ panel filter. Outside air enters through the grille and passes through the pleated panel, which holds dust and pollen on its upstream face, and the blower carries it to the cabin. As the panel loads its airflow resistance rises, which can reduce ventilation and demisting; the frame must seal continuously inside the housing. At service the panel slides out of the housing and is replaced. Illustrative simulation of how it works: a conceptual animation, not an engineering model or test result, and it shows no product data.

How to read this figure

  1. Outside-air grille. Outside air enters through the grille in the wall above the panel. Moving the cursor sideways changes how much dust and pollen the air carries.
  2. HVAC housing in section. The housing is cut away in front and open on top so the panel can be seen; its side walls and floor guide the air through the panel.
  3. MICROKAPPA™ pleated panel. The air crosses the pleated panel, and the dust and pollen settle on its upstream (top) face. The readout shows the panel's load.
  4. Rails. The panel sits on rails inside the housing; they hold it in position and let it slide out at service.
  5. Blower. Under the housing floor, the blower draws the air through the panel.
  6. Supply to the cabin. The blower sends the filtered air through the supply line to the cabin.
  7. Service. Moving the cursor to the top, or pressing E, runs the service: the panel slides out on its rails and a new, clean one goes in.
