Water level at the bottom of the cartridge and drain wingWater and residues settling inside the cartridgeHead with primer pump, spin-on cartridge with built-in drain (section view), catch cupConceptual illustration of a HYDROCORE™ spin-on separator with a built-in drain, with the bottom of the cartridge shown in section. Separated water and impurities, denser than diesel, settle at the bottom of the cartridge itself and are released by opening the drain. At service the whole cartridge is replaced, drain included. Illustrative simulation of how it works: a conceptual animation, not an engineering model or test result, and it shows no product data.

How to read this figure

  1. Head. The same fixed head, with the inlet and outlet, the hand primer pump and the bleed screw.
  2. Spin-on cartridge. The HYDROCORE™ separation element and its sump are one sealed unit. The lower part is drawn in section so the inside can be seen.
  3. Sump. Separated water and residues settle at the bottom of the cartridge itself. With no transparent bowl, the level cannot be seen, so draining follows the maintenance routine.
  4. Built-in drain. Clicking the figure, or pressing the space bar, opens the drain at the bottom of the cartridge and releases the water into the catch cup.
  5. Service. Moving the cursor to the top, or pressing E, runs the service: the whole cartridge is replaced, drain included.
