Problem Diagnosis

Something is wrong. This investigation traces what you are observing — through the contamination mechanism that is causing it — to the most probable root cause. The diagnosis comes before the recommendation. Products appear only after the engineering case is established.

1Identify the Problem
2Investigate the Cause
3Confirm the Diagnosis

Identify the Problem

Asset, observed symptoms, and operating context

INVESTIGATION · STEP 01 OF 07

Which type of equipment is experiencing the problem?

WHY

Equipment type determines the baseline contamination exposure profile and the operating systems most likely to be affected. Without knowing the asset category, any contamination hypothesis is unconstrained — we cannot distinguish between an air intake failure mode and a hydraulic failure mode based on symptoms alone.
